Tourist Information about Alumine

When you travel from Zapala to Cuesta del Rahue, along Laguna Blanca, you will be crossing one of the highest, most solitary and wild plains in Patagi¡onian steppe. It is a prelude to one of the most spectacular views that the Cordillera offers to its visitors. Once you arrive at Rahue, it is advisable to stop and enjoy the panorama. You are very few kilometres from Aluminé, a small paradise stopped in time that maintains traditions and ancestral reminiscences from Rahue that seem to immerse in the past and celebrate the enjoyment of life. The milenary araucarias you have seen along your way meet in Aluminé to offer a precious environment with their old presence. Near lakes and mountains, you will enjoy its steep streets, quiet and slow mannered people, who will make you enjoy the beauty of the place with their sober hospitality. Back home, you will remember it as a particularly new experience with nostalgic reminiscence when you hear a guitar sounding late in the night. Situated on the west margin of river Aluminé, head of the district of the same name, it is inserted in an area of high mountains very close to the north sector of Lanín National Park, some 800 meters above sea level. Aluminé is the service center in the area, and the gateway to the lakes corridor in Patagonia. Every year in March, when araucaria seeds are gathered, they celebrate the Fiesta del Pehuén, in honor to this tree. Regional products are exposed, and there are creole skills shows. Since 1991, the river Aluminé has been the see of the Argentine Kayak Championship.
