Argostoli is the Capital as well as the main port of the island, a welcoming town with signs of 19th century architecture, completely rebuilt after the earthquake that struck in 1953 At Argostoli some places of interest to visit include the Korgialinio Folk Art and Historical Museum with Venetian records of the island, the Archaeological Museum with many interesting local findings from the excavations at Kokolata and Mazarata, the Katavothres swallow holes and the market place were its worth spending a few hours. Argostoli has a lively nightlife as well as many taverns and restaurants.
