In 1098, the commune is called Baillol , of Balius, name of man and ialo = field and name of lord. The inhabitants are called Bailleulais and Bailleulaises (by Bailleulois tradition). Church Saint Jean Baptiste remade after 1918, the village having been entirely destroyed.
