One of the most famous cities in the Santa Catarina coastline, it hosts more than one million Brazilian and foreign tourists every year, mainly Argentines. Besides its grooving and urbanized beaches in the city center, it has also calmer beaches, all of them with blue and calm water and white sands. One special attraction of the city is the cable car going from Barra Sul to Laranjeiras beach, with one scale in an ecological reserve. Also, there are strolls by helicopter or by ship.
On the Cyro Gevaerd park, there are the archaeological and craftwork museums and one zoo. The nightlife in Balneário Camboriú is very grooving. During the pleasant summer nights, visitors occupy the walkways in front of the central beach, with a lot of bars, snack bars, ice cream shops and craft shops. The Via Gastronômica (Gastronomic Via) concentrates restaurants with different specialties. The city has excellent hotels and services.
The cable cars depart from the leisure complex Unipraias Barra Sul and go to Laranjeiras beach in a course of 1,600 meters, up to 240 meters high. Half the course, there’s a stop on Morro da Aguada (Aguada's Hill), ecological park that preserves Atlantic Forest. From lookouts, it’s a beautiful panoramic view of the border.
The Camboriú beach, the most central, is long, urbanized and very visited by tourists. The Laranjeiras beach is also very visited. In all around, there are calmer places, as Estaleiro and Estaleirinho. The Pinho beach is reserved to the naturists. Parque Cyro Gevaerd (Cyro Gevaerd Park) Good place to strolls, as it has a lot of leisure options. Zoo has several animal species in an environment that reproduces Atlantic Forest, and the aquarium, in enormous tanks, has fish collections, turtles and shellfishes. The Museu de Arqueologia (Archaeology Museum) exposes pieces of fossils found in the coastline, and the Museu de Artesanato (Craft Museum) has more than 700 typical objects on the region.
A lot of hotels with different levels of comfort and prices, with large scale and well equipped establishments. There are restaurants with different specialties. It offers several tourism agencies, car rental agencies and branches from the main banks.
Balneário Camboriú is on the northern coastline of Santa Catarina, 85 km far from Florianópolis by the road BR-101. It’s 220 km far from Curitiba, by the roads BR-376 and BR-101. The nearest airport with regular flights is Navegantes, 10 km far from it. It receives buses from Florianópolis, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo and from other cities in the southern and southeast regions on the country.
