Bandol is a village well known for its wine and it truly merits its "appellation d’origine contrôlée". Bandol is also a seaside resort that is protected from the Mistral by lovely tree covered hills. Even the inhabitants of Marseilles and Toulon, who often comes here to take advantage of its excellent weather, is left impressed!
The historical heritage of Bandol is not that exceptional but there are several splendid walks that can be done to discover its natural heritage. Nearby, beyond the villas protected by imposing maritime pines and masses of flowers, you can commend this area, with its earth that offers splendid red and white wines from its vineyards planted close to the sea. The cliff road is ideal for the romantics amongst us.
A short boat ride will take you to Bendor Island. Paul Ricard, its owner, who is also known as the king of Pastis, has transformed the island into a leisure centre. Bandol is a typical provençal trading town with its sandy beaches. Almost everything can be found here.
From Bandol, it is easy to visit the surrounding natural sites, with the "calanques" or rocky creeks and the "Gros Cerveau " mountain in the west. The mountain offers a panoramic view of the Var Coast.
