Tourist Information about Barbentane

Built on the North flank of the Montagnette, Barbentane overlooks the agricultural plain close to the confluence of the Rhône and the Durance. The Tour Anglica, the keep of the Episcopal castle built in the 14th century, dominates the village. Only two gates remain of the fortified walls that once protected the castle. Lower down the slope is the elegant Barbentane Chateau (17th century). Still inhabited, its architecture is reminiscent of the residences of the Ile-de-France. The interior is richly decorated in 18th century Italian style. Terraces bordered with decorated stone balustrades open onto the park.
