Boreen Point is a village on the shores of lovely Lake Cootharaba, the largest lake of the Noosa River system. It is about 20 kilometres by sealed road from Tewantin. A haven for sailing and boating enthusiasts, Boreen Point has holiday cottages, a general store, caravan parks and boat hire facilities. Boreen Point is the home of the Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club, which stages major sailing and sailboarding events. Transplanted from the Gympie goldfields of the last century, the famous and beautifully refurbished Apollonian Hotel lies on the road into town. Overlooking the lake are the popular Jetty Restaurants and the Eliza Fraser Memorial cairn.
