Campo Grande

Mato Grosso do Sul’s capital, Campo Grande, is the point of departure to some other important ecotourism destinations. It’s 140 km far from Aquidauna, 210 km far from Miranda and 440 km far from Corumbá, cities considered as entries to the South of Pantanal. And it’s 280 km far from Bonito, the main location on the Serra da Bodoquena region.

It’s a modern city. It has large avenues, a lot of hotels and a good commerce and services infrastructure. At the same time, the regional culture is very present in typical food restaurants and local craft shops.

Visit to Museu Dom Bosco (Dom Bosco Museum) – A collection of 8 thousand Indian objects, tribes like bororo, chavante and carajás, 1500 embalming animals, 7 thousand shells and 6 thousand butterflies, besides other insects. Also known as Museu do Índio (Índio's Museum), is one of the most interesting and well organized on the country.

Buy regional craft – On Casa do Artesão (Artesão's House), located in a historical building in the city center, you can buy pieces made by kadiweu and bororoan Indians, mainly the ceramics. There are also baskets, tapestry, wooden and straw objects and regional drinks, as the famous souari nut liqueur.

The city has a lot of hotels with different levels of comfort and prices, and restaurants with different specialties. Car rental and tourism agencies make things easier to visitor. The city has branches from the main banks and diversified commerce.

Campo Grande receives flights from the main cities on the country. The road terminal receives buses from cities in the interior and from other states. You can get there by the roads BR-163, BR-267 and BR-262.
