Tourist Information about Cipo

Cipo

In the middle of the hinterland in Bahia, a harsh, but beautiful region, where water shortage is the norm, places like Cipó and Caldas do Jorro, with their mineral springs resemble an oasis. These towns look like beautiful gardens in the middle of the caatinga ( a shrubby shrug, typical of the Brazilian Norhteast), as if they were gifts from God for those who look for refuge in pleasant places, perfect for tourism.

Located on the right bank of the Itapicuru river, Cipó is 242 km from Salvador, in the Northeast of Bahia, and it still maintains the air of the 50's, time of casinos which spurred tourism for some time in the region. The relevance of these springs nationally can be signaled by the opening of the Grande Hotel Caldas de Cipó. Great enterprise that still grabs one's attention for its grandiose architecture. It took eight years to be built and it was inaugurated on June 24, 1952, by the then president of Brazil Mr. Getúlio Vargas.
