Coxim

It’s 240 km far from Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul’s capital. The city is the main entry to the east side of South of Pantanal. Although now rivers are less fishy on the town, fishermen still go to the Coxim and Taquari basins seeking for dourados, surubins and piraputangas. There are also photo safaris on the native forest on Pantanal region.

Piracema observation From August to October, fishes climb up the rivers in shoals to lay their eggs, and they are required to jump because of the river water flow; this phenomenon is called piracema. One location to observation is the Palmeiras waterfall.

There are housings to fishermen, called fishings, to the sides of the rivers. Conventional hotels on the city center. Bank branches.

Coxim is 240 km far to the north of Campo Grande, by the road BR-163. The road terminal receives buses from the capital and from cities in the interior and from other states.
