The two villages of Gaschurn and Partenen lie tucked amidst a fascinating mountain back-drop at altitudes of 1,000 and 1,050 metres. Gaschurn-Partenen in Hochmontafon, one of Vorarlberg's most attractive tourist communities, lies right by the Silvretta Nova ski area and on the slopes of Silvretta. The two villages have plenty of pleasant 3* and 4* hotels and top quality gastronomy, yet have retained their original old fashioned charm and harmony with nature. No massive hotel complexes spoil the village architecture here.
In winter and summer, for action and adventure or peace and relaxation, Gaschurn-Partenen is the perfect location for a unique and unforgettable holiday.
Get moving... The mountains here form one vast sports arena with everything on offer: climbing, mountain biking, leisurely hikes or challenging trekking tours, canyoning, paragliding or mountaineering. Sport is a way of life here - Breaking records and personal bests are not the emphasis, rather having fun, getting fit through exercise and finding the true potential of one's own body.
Gaschurn-Partenen is a community with a rich history and is one of the tourist centres in the Alps with the best preserved cultural heritage. The population is characterised not just by a deep sense of hospitality, but a strong attachment to customs and traditions. Culture lovers are recommended to visit Austria's first Museum of Tourism, where you can learn about Silvretta's most famous guest, Ernest Hemingway. In summer, the Silvretta Classic, Montafon Summer Concert Season and the world famous Bregenz Festival provide memorable highlights. Cultural history was also written more recently in Gaschurn-Partenen with the filming of "Schlafes Bruder" and "Marlene" on location here. In late summer the stage is set for the 'Montafoner Gespräche' - sevendays of events and talks by renowned speakers focussing on the subject of health.
