The market municipality of Gols is located at the southern slopes of the Parndorfer Platte plate at the edge of the Hungarian lowlands. The microclimate is influenced by the Neusiedler See lake that is only 4 km from Gols. Gols is Austriaīs largest wine-growing village. Almost 55% of the population are wine-growers, some 50 % of them full-time. Of the 4,212 hectares of farmland the majority is used as vineyards. Wine plays a central role in this region, several important events are centered on the grape juice. The Gols festival with the regionīs most important fair, the Pannonia, is annually frequented by more than 100,000 guests.
