Tourist Information about Hradec Kralove

Hradec Králové is the oldest town in Bohemia. It was built on a site of former Slavonic habitation and its history is documented from the year 1225. In the Middle Ages this town was the dower town of Czech queens. The bricken?? Church of St. Spirit have been preserved from the 14th century and the White Tower next to the church dates from the 16th century. In the Baroque period the town was re-buit as a large military fort. A new image for the town began to emerge after removing the fortifications. A new modernist shape was given to the town by well-known architects such as Jan Kotera (the building of the East Bohemian Museum) or Josef Gocar (the building of the J.K.Tyl High School).
