Like the other villages you have traveled through from Osorno in the Carretera Panamericana, Llanquihue has the poetry and the peace of this southern spot within a lake environment with the scenery of the Andes. All the magic of the lake had the virtue of inserting in every one of these cities with the spirit of grace and strength. The river Maullín drains in the lake next to the city, which was first called "Desagüe", and then by supreme decree of 1897, Llanquihue, its present name.
