Located on the Atlantic Coast , in the south of Buenos Aires Province, Monte Hermoso is a family beach that has more than 32 km wide beautiful beaches with a slight slope to the sea. It borders on Dorrego's District to the North and on Coronel de Marina Leonardo Rosales District to the west. You can get to this region through Nº 3 National Route that links forward with Nº 78 Provincial Route- both being asphalted and in excellent conditions. Monte Hermoso is the only Seaside Resort in the country where the sun rises and goes down at the sea providing the tourist with the chance of staying longer at the beach without shadows. Since the city is located on the oriental border of a climatic transition zone where tropical and polar masses of air come together, the area is windy and the northern flow with a periodical rotation to the southwest and south prevails. This is also the reason why the Summer is nice with maximum average temperatures of 26º C due to the wind called " Sea Breeze". The geographical situation also influences on the temperature of the water- it is 5º C higher than the water in the other resorts as a consequence of the arriving warm currents. The city has a basic but complete touristic infrastructure. There are different activities, tours and excursions to go on either for children or grown ups. At the beach, you can enjoy relaxing activities like beach volleyball, soccer, quoits championships, aerobics or salsa lessons among others. In the coast, you can practise water activities such as sailing, jet skiing or windsurfing. The last one being currently in fashion since there are winds that are ideal for this practice. Fishers can spend an unforgettable day getting palo fish, whitings, groupers, congers and ray's beams. If you want to fish with net, you can get cornalitos, anchovies, soles and valuable shrimps and prawns. Among the most outstanding places to visit in Monte Hermoso, you will find the Natural Sciences Museum, the Navy Museum, Sauce Grande Beach and Lagoon, Recalada lighthouse and the Pinewood Walk that can either be enjoyed on foot or cycling to spend a day in contact with nature. At night, you can go to the big modern Casino with roulette, black jack and point and bank tables as well as an excellent cafeteria service. Nearby, you can visit places like Necochea, San Blas Bay, Claromecó, Miramar or Reta.
