Tourist Information about Morud

In the south-east corner of north Funen, with places called Morud and Langesø, right there, the active visitor finds a paradise of outdoor activities in beautiful surroundings. It is a beautifully hilly forest area, and the nature is very attractive for outdoor people. If you walk around the lake, you find Langesø Forest Chapel, charmingly placed at one end of the lake, and Langesø Castle at the other. The forest is one of the few private forests in Denmark, and as such, it offers the opportunity to go horseback riding. There are a number of riding trails in the forest and horses are for rent. Rugårds Landevej, which stretches from Odense to Middelfart, is also well known. The kings and queens previously used it when they travelled around the country. The name originates from Rugård - an old castle. In its glory days, the royal visitors made frequent use of the road on their way across Funen. At the junction where you turn towards Rugård, is an old Waiting whitethorn. Here the farmers of the area were required to wait with horses and carriages to supply the king with his further transportation across Funen.
