Nanjing, known as Jinling in ancient times, is the capital of Jiangsu Province. It is located on the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, surrounded by mountains and rivers, with a humid climate. Nanjing served as the capital for ten dynasties. It covers an area of 2.5 thousand square miles and has 5.06 million residents. A metropolis both ancient and modern, Nanjing has many places of interest, such as the Confucian Temple and the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum.
