Tourist Information about Novy Jicin

This town arose thanks to the privilege of Jan Lucembursky at the beginning of the 14th century and grew rich due to its location near the trade way. It was ransomed from a serfdom in the 16th century and became an independent town. Former timber structures were replaced with stone houses (such as the noble arcade house known as Stara posta ("Old Post")). The Gothic fortress was re-built as the Renaissance Zerotinsky Chateau and the unique Hat Museum has been established here. Also the baroque U andela House (Near the Angel) along with the Apothecary´s House rank among the attractive buildings. A rarity of the town are two railway stations, which are not put through. The town is presented as the town of hats.
