Tourist Information about Vieux Habitants

This village was founded in 1636, thus being the oldest town of Guadeloupe. Its name means "old inhabitants" Since the 18th century, coffee, cocoa, vanilla and roucou were farmed in the surrounding valleys. Today you'll also see vegetable and banana plantations as well as ouassou-hatcheries (sweetwater crayfish).
