Located in the middle of the verdant savanna of Bogotá, it has various neighboring towns that offer many attractions for visitors. Zipaquirá, has been an area of salt mines since pre Hispanic times where for centuries they sculpted in the rock of the mine and made a magnificent Cathedral. Recently a new Salt Cathedral was inaugurated and is considered one of the marvels of the world. It is the only one of its kind and has an internal area of 8,500 square meters or 25,000 square feet. It is a must see for the tourist. Outside is the Tourist Information Center and the Museo de la Minería.
