The Obrien Family Maintained Residence In Dromoland Until 1962 When Due To Difficult Circumstances, The 16th Baron Was Financially Compelled To Sell The Castle And 375 Acres. The New Owner Bernard Mcdonaghof Of West Virginia, Converted The Castle Into A Luxury Hotel. In 1986 The Property Was Sold To The Present Owners, Who Have Invested 7 Million Dollars On The Continued Refurbishment Of Dromoland Castle.
