As its name suggests, the hotel is set in an unusual old schoolhouse, which was originally built in 1869 and was home to St Stephen's Parochial school. It is located in the centre of Dublin, within half a mile of the city's main attractions, shopping and leisure facilities. The 31 guestrooms are individually designed and named after Irish writers; all include bathrobes, complimentary designer toiletries, complimentary newspapers and bottles of water, coffee makers, irons and ironing boards and satellite television.
The hotel's restaurant, the Canteen, is set in a former classroom with high beamed ceilings and long windows and serves modern Irish cuisine with Thai influences. The bar is also set a former classroom, serves food all day and is one of Dublin's most popular nightspots. Those wishing to eat or drink in their rooms can take advantage of 24 hour room service. The hotel also has a hair salon and fitness centre.
